"Marketing is Just Trying to Sell me Sh*t"

The main goal of marketing is to showcase products, services, and the business overall in a positive way to appeal to consumers. This indirectly implies making the sale, but it implies a lot more than that as well. Selling is done after all marketing efforts have been implemented. Marketing makes sure that consumers are taking action and making purchases after they have been informed and educated, not just with the intention of 'making the sale', but with the intention of changing lives for the better. When done right, marketing is a creative outlet for businesses to showcase the benefits of their brand honestly and with the consumers’ interest in mind. It is not a shameless grab for sales. The difference lies between truly caring about your consumers and your product, vs. saying whatever it takes for consumers to want your product without having a real passion for what you sell or who you sell it to. Those who do whatever it takes just to make a sale aren’t really marketing their product; this method is ineffective and deceptive in many cases, and should never be confused with effective marketing.
